Pepe Cabrera, a live building in continous evolution

From its conception, the building that currently houses the architecture studio and the Pepe Cabrera showroom in Dénia was imagined as something alive, nothing static. And that is how it has evolved steadily throughout its almost 20 years of existence.

The building project itself was created by our long-awaited Pepe Cabrera and Paula Cabrera Gil, architect and partner of the company. The two put on the plans the idea of a building, located in what was then a purely industrial area of Dénia, of building a construction that was as its content: unique, avant-garde and in continuous movement.

Three containers and a top bucket

Pepe and Paula drew a building made up of three containers. Two of them white, which contain the most static but always changing areas, while the third container, the central one, houses the communications core: the forklift, the ladder and the elevator.

Above the three containers there is a fourth cube, in this case set back, which has always had an artistic purpose. First he housed an art gallery. And then, from 2013, the designer Pepe Cabrera surprised everyone again with his idea: to open a restaurant in the showroom attic to offer an experience to customers. Pepe saw the evolution of gastronomy as another aspect of art, as it is today, and made it a reality. Thus was born the Aticcook gastronomic space.

A gallery of liquid art

The art gallery did not disappear with the opening of Aticcook. With a concept of liquid exhibition, now works of art are present throughout the showroom, integrated together with furniture or work areas.

The furniture showroom has also evolved. When the store opened in 2002, the exhibition was divided into modern and classic furniture, undergoing constant evolution until today, the showroom is fully specialized in contemporary furniture.

In addition to Pepe Cabrera's own showroom, this building also houses a shop in shop of the avant-garde kitchens firm Bulthaup; space that was located first on the second floor and that for some time now occupies one of the ground floors of the two white containers.

Expanding architecture studio

One of the most outstanding aspects of the evolution of the Pepe Cabrera brand has been its architecture studio. In the beginning it was composed of two people, Paula Cabrera herself and her brother, also the architect and partner, Nacho Cabrera. Since then, the architecture studio together with that of interior design has been growing in parallel with the realization of specialized projects at home and with clients from all over the world. Today, the study team and the administration and sales team total 25 people.
